According to a recent survey the key things to the perfect summer holiday are cultural immersion, local knowledge and authentic experiences.

More than two thirds of Brits say that the most important takeaway from their summer holiday is an increased understanding of the country they have visited. According to research by Homestay.com, an incredible 70% of those surveyed made the claim and said it is time to “rip up the rule book and challenge the archetypal view of what Brits are looking for from an ideal getaway”.

They also revealed that the perfect holiday is now no more than 10 days, visiting an average of five local attractions and trying six local dishes or drinks. And while we used to assume everyone abroad could speak English, 75% are now keen to learn up to 15 phrases in the local lingo.
