The main airlines which fly from Manchester to Hong Kong are Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Qatar, Etihad and Lufthansa.

There are only four direct flights a week from Manchester to Hong Kong a week, with Cathay Pacific, which take roughly 11 hours and 30 minutes.

Other than this, there are non-direct flights with stopovers in airports such as Dubai, Doha, and Frankfurt which take longer (15-17 hours).

Upon arrival at Hong Kong International Airport (also known as Chek Lap Kok Airport) you will arrive at Terminal One, where you can catch the Airport Express train into the city centre which takes 24 minutes.

This is probably the quickest way to get to your onward destination, and trains depart every ten minutes, with tickets costing $100 (approx £10).

Buses and taxis are also available but will take longer and be more expensive.

Thankfully you don’t need a visa to visit Hong Kong, although you will if you’re planning to stay any longer than six months.

In terms of weather, Hong Kong has a subtropical climate and four distinct seasons. June through to September is the warmest time of year to visit, and can also be rainy and humid.

On the other hand, winter is dry, while still being fairly warm, with average temperatures of 18°C.
