Flying to Delhi from the UK

If you’re flying to Delhi from the UK, here are a few things you should know, including flight times and entry requirements.

Flight Times

Direct flights from the UK generally take around eight and a half hours to reach Delhi, with regular flights available from London Heathrow and Birmingham.

Indirect flights from other airports such as Manchester will take around ten hours depending on your connecting flights.

Entry Requirements

British citizens will need to obtain a visa before travelling to India, which you can do by applying at the Indian High Commission.

If you meet certain eligibility criteria, you may be able to apply for a single entry e-Tourist visa (e-TV) which you can find out more about at the Indian government’s e-TV website (be sure not to get caught out by fakes).

If you’re travelling on business, ensure that you get the right visa, as many Brits have been caught out by the difference between employment visas and business visas, which cannot be extended.

Another note to remember is that anyone travelling who is of British-Pakistani dual nationality will have to apply for a visa on their Pakistani passport and this can take considerably longer.
