A real cultural melting pot, Miami has the sunshine and pristine beaches of your typical seaside city, but with an artistic and cultural edge.

Ocean Drive is perhaps the centrepiece of the city and a great example of the city’s Art Deco architecture style and dazzling neon lights.

Past this though, the city’s many neighbourhoods all have something to offer. Due to its close proximity, the city has always had a large Cuban population, and Little Havana is a must visit, where you can visit a traditional cigar shop, and sample some culinary delights while taking in some Cuban music at one of the many bars and cafés.

The ocean also presents the opportunity for a host of water sports, such as jet-skiing, paragliding and more.

And those after a bit of history should head to the gorgeous Coral Castle and the St. Bernard de Clairvaux Church.

The weather in Miami is warm all year round, with average temperatures of 28°C in the summer, and a pleasant 20°C in winter.

Various airlines offer direct flights from London Heathrow to Miami, such as British Airways, American Airlines, Iberia, Virgin Atlantic and Delta, with the average flight taking around ten hours.

There are also numerous indirect routes available too, which may offer better value.

While you may choose to fly from Gatwick to the nearby Fort Lauderdale, the majority of flights from London to Miami fly from Heathrow to Miami International Airport.

Upon arrival at Miami Airport, you can catch a free shuttle bus to the nearby Tri-Rail and Metrorail station.

If you’re heading somewhere that isn’t served by the public transportation, there is also a taxi rank outside the airport, or you can also hire your own car.

Remember that you’ll need to fill out an ESTA form before you depart so that you can benefit from the Visa Waiver Programme.
