Book flights to this huge chain of wonderful islands with Globehunters and discover the many sights, sounds and tastes that Indonesia has to offer.

Indonesia is a colourful country with lots to see and experience, whether it be the pristine beaches, lush rainforests and savannahs, or world class luxury resorts along the coast.

While the cities of Indonesia can be hectic and a bit of a sensory overload, vast portions of Indonesia are relatively untouched and retain a natural beauty, where you’ll be able to see the real Thailand, including many of the exotic species of wildlife, such as monkeys and orangutans.

It’s really up to you how to want to experience Indonesia. If you want to just get away from it all and be waited on hand and foot in a luxury resort, you can do.

Or if you want to strap on a backpack and go exploring every nook and cranny of the 17,000 islands which make up the country, you can do that too!

Whatever you choose to do, be sure to compare fares on your flights to Indonesia with us here at Globehunters before booking your trip to this island paradise.

Flying to Indonesia from the UK

Here’s everything to know about flying to Indonesia from the UK, such as the flight time and entry requirements.

Flight Times

Direct flights from London to Jakarta generally take about 14 and a half hours, although the majority of flights from the UK require one-stop, and generally take around 17-18 hours depending on your route and how long your stopover is.

Entry Requirements

If you’re travelling to Indonesia for 30 days or less, then you won’t need a visa. However, if you do visit without a visa, this visit won’t be able to be extended once you arrive.

If you do wish to travel for longer than 30 days, you’ll need a visa either before you travel, or upon your arrival, at a cost of $35 or the equivalent in rupiahs (about £27). These visas apply for 30 days but can be applied for a further 30 days.

You may also be asked for proof of onward or return travel by immigration officials, so ensure you’ve made all reservations before you arrive in Indonesia.

There may also be an ‘airport tax’, which is usually included in your outgoing ticket to Indonesia, but not on the way back, so be sure to check this.

Finally, if you’re staying in private accommodation (not a hotel) you’ll need to register, or could incur a Rp 5 fine (about £300).
