New York City: Unmissable Events

New York is such a busy city that there is something going on most days. However, there are a few key events that you might want to attend if you want to see the real spirit of the city.

See extravagant fireworks displays on Independence Day from the riverbanks with crowds of New Yorkers. There are also plenty of parades throughout the year in New York, the most well known ones being St Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17th (this is the biggest parade) and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Head to Times Square on New Year’s Eve for live entertainment and a spectacular start to the year at New Year’s Eve Ball Drop. If you love museums then don’t miss Museum Mile Festival in June, ten museums are open to the public for free during this festival.

Film fans might want to attend the Tribeca Film Festival, which was founded by Robert De Niro. Over the summer there’s Shakespeare in the Park that takes place in July where plays are performed in Central Park, what a beautiful setting to watch a play. Another great summer event in Central Park that’s worth attending is Central Park Summer Stage.

In August there’s New York International Fringe Festival where around 200 theatrical companies show off their work.
