Fly from London to Lagos today and get a true first-hand African experience! Lagos, the capital of Nigeria is full of surprises, with plenty to see and do.

Lagos is one of Africa’s biggest and busiest port cities and has an impressive nightlife scene, as well as a very diverse culinary offering.

It’s made up of lots of smaller islands, which are separated by creeks and connected by bridges, and this is actually how the city got its name (Lagos is Portuguese for ‘Lakes’).

If it’s relaxing in the equatorial sun you’re after, look no further than Bar Beach on Victoria Island, or Lekki Beach on the Lekki island.

Victoria Island is the place to head for shopping and is home to the Silverbird Galleria, which is home to shopping outlets, restaurants, and Nigeria’s first multiplex cinema.

Lagos Island is the place to head to visit the city’s bustling markets and is also home to one of the biggest golf courses in Africa, and Nigeria’s national museum where you can learn about the country’s history and culture.

For some of the city’s best restaurants, head to the Surulere district, or to see some local wildlife, the Lekki Conservation Centre is worth a visit.

Lagos is also often a popular destination for business travellers, as it is one of Africa’s fastest growing cities, and a hub for manufacturing, financial and commercial business.

The average direct flight time to Lagos from London is six and a half hours, with 25 regular flights a week arriving into Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll find official yellow taxis waiting outside the arrivals terminal, and this is the easiest and safest way to reach the city centre, although traffic can get quite bad!
