Packed with culture, nightlife and restaurants, Buenos Aires makes for an excellent urban adventure in South America.

With 48 barrios (neighbourhoods), Buenos Aires is a very varied city and attracts a large number of visitors from overseas each year.

In particular, the Palermo Viejo neighbourhood is popular with its quaint cobblestoned streets and plentiful bars and boutiques, as well as its own lake and flower garden.

La Boca is the place to head for a more authentic Buenos Aires experience, in the shadow of La Bombonera, the stadium which is home to the Boca Juniors football team.

In Recoleta, you’ll find the Cementerio de la Recoleta, which is the final resting place of Eva Perón and one of the main tourist attractions in the city.

Finally, those after a little more history should head to the barrio of San Telmo, which is one of the oldest in the city, with more of a bohemian feel, although it’s also home to some of the city’s best nightlife.

In terms of weather, the summer in Buenos Aires falls during the winter time in London and vice versa, so remember this when booking!

The hottest time of the year is around January, when temperatures reach an average of 25°C, with the coldest averages of 12°C, which is still a pleasant temperature for walking around sightseeing.

The main airport (Ezeiza) is around 20 miles away from the city centre, but there are regular taxis, buses and coaches to help you get there, and the average taxi will cost around 250 pesos.

Finally, you don’t need a visa to travel to Buenos Aires as a tourist as long as you are only staying for 90 days or less.
