To experience one of the world’s most visually stunning cities, and one of the most popular African tourist locations, why not check out our London to Cape Town flights?

Situated right at the southern tip of the continent, Cape Town is surrounded by rugged mountains and coastlines, which give the city its spectacular backdrop.

The highlight is, of course, the amazing Table Mountain, which offers great views over the city.

However, there’s a lot more to the city, such as the Bo-Kaap region which is home to a number of vibrant coloured houses and has been used in many films.

In addition to hiking up Table Mountain, there are plenty of other outdoor activities to enjoy such as paragliding, bungee jumping and diving with sharks.

South Africa is also known for its rich winemaking heritage and a little further out of the city you’ll find the vineyards at Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl.

And of course, no trip to Africa would be complete without getting up close and personal with the local wildlife, so be sure to head to the Solole Game reserve where you can see black rhinos, antelopes and buffaloes in their natural habitat.

In terms of weather, you should remember that because it is in the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons in Cape Town are the opposite to London, with their summer taking place during our winter.

As such, January is the warmest time to visit, while June is the coldest, although temperatures are mild all year round, with a summer average of 23°C and winter average of 13°C.

Upon arrival in Cape Town, MyCiti buses run every 20 minutes between the airport and the city centre, and a one-way ticket will cost you ZAR 65, which is around £3.10, and there is also a taxi rank and car hire.

You must also remember that while you can stay in Cape Town for up to 90 days without a visa, you will require one if staying any longer.
