However, safety is also a key consideration, especially with the recent spread of terrorist incidents across the West.

We’ve taken a look at the World Economic Forum’s biennial Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report, which ranks countries around the world on a number of areas, one of which is ‘Safety and Security’.

They’ve looked at factors including the number of terrorist incidents, crime rates, and the performance of the local police, to give each country a rating (for the full methodology and data, check out the report for yourself).
