Flying to Hawaii from the UK

Here’s everything you’ll need to know when flying to Hawaii from the UK, such as flight times and entry requirements.

Flight times

Flight times average between 17 hours and 22 hours depending on which island in Hawaii you intend to travel to.

Due to its distance from the UK, Hawaii is only accessible via connecting flights, with a stopover in either mainland USA or Canada and, for further islands, Honolulu. Flights are available from most major UK cities, such as London and Manchester.

Entry requirements

Under the Visa Waiver Programme, most tourists travelling on a British passport can enter the US for up to 90 days without needing a visa. You must complete an online pre-registration form for this.

This is on the condition that you haven’t travelled to certain countries in the past six years, that you are a British Citizen and don’t hold dual nationality with certain countries, haven’t been arrested for certain crimes, have enough funds for the length of your stay, and that your passport is an ePassport.

If you don’t qualify for the Visa Waiver Programme, you must apply for a visa.

For more information, visit the UK government website.
