One of China’s gems and a UNESCO World Heritage site, Beijing’s Forbidden City is about to open more of its doors to the public. From the 10th of October this year, the area where imperial women once lived will be open for visitors for the first time.

The area where empresses used to live called the ‘Palace of Compassion and Tranquillity’ will house 400 exhibits. Other areas to opened up for public viewing are be the Yanchi House at the Meridian gate and the East Prosperity Gate – both would be turned into exhibition halls displaying Chinese art, relics and architecture.
